Claim for an Amount for an Eligible Dependant
Situation: a single tax payer supports both senior parents who are married, have no income at all and live with the taxpayer. The tax payer has no kids under 18 years old either. The taxpayer claimed an amount for an eligible dependant ( one of the parents). Actually, Profile suggested such a treatment. I made no overrides on the tax return.
CRA conducted a review and declined the claim based on " that another supporting person has met the requirments to claim the dependant for thsi claim". Basically, CRA saying husband supports wife or vice versa, even though both of them have no income at all.
Did anybody have similar case at all, and if yes did CRA chalenge the case?
